Ratio

This term I am working on Ratios. I am doing a lot of word problems about ratio. as you can see I have solve the ratio by dividing it. Hope you have learnt something reading my maths work.

  1. A fruit drink is made by mixing 60 ml of orange juice, with 180 ml of pineapple juice. What is the ratio of orange juice in its simplest form.

   Answer: 60 : 180 , 60 divided by 3 = 20 and 180 divided by 3 = 60 so 20:60
                      20 divided by 2 = 10 and 60 divided by 2 = 30 so 10:30
                     10 divided by 2 = 5 and 30 divided by 2 = 15 so 5:15
                     5 divided by 5 = 1 and 15 divided by 5 = 3 so the ratio is 1 : 3

2.)   Concrete is made by mixing sand, water and concrete mix in the ratio of 6 parts sand, 3 parts water, and 3 parts concrete mix. What ratio is this in its simplest form.

Answer: 6 : 3 : 3 so 6 divided by 2 = 3 , 3 divided by 3 = 1 and 3 divided by 3 = 1 so
                  The ratio is 3 : 1 : 1
